Program Description

Event Details

Tweens and Teens, join us for this engaging Comic Book Workshop, presented by Jerry and Chet of Do Art Productions!

Attendees will explore the different languages of comics, from the eyes, to body posture, to the actual language within speech bubbles. The workshop is interactive and very creative with little tricks and turns to keep engagement. With a dynamic pose drawing exercise you may see juggling axolotls, flying giraffes, or dabbing pandas. After seeing how easy cartooning and creative expression can be, we will generate a comic together out of the characters and creativity of the first half! (Blurb pulled from Do Art Production's website)

Registration is required. For patrons aged 9-17!

Do Art Production's Mission Statement:

Do Art Productions aims to inspire creativity within everybody. Whether an experienced artist seeking inspiration to create MORE, but especially those who think they are not artists, and are simply “bad,” or “no good” at creating. We at Do Art Productions aim to illuminate the error in such thinking. There is no such thing as art that is “no good.” We are ALL born artists, and ALL of us have an unlimited amount of creativity harbored within us.

Creativity is inherent to being an individual, and inescapable in the day-to-day. It is in how we dress. It is in how we walk. It is in how we say good morning to the first person we greet. Creativity is a language of expression: therefore, creativity is an expression of existence. Whether an individual, or a group, Art expresses existence.

All of us are uniquely different. Whether born in the same town, or go to the same school, or even raised in the same house, we all carry a trait of ourselves that is noticeably different than everyone around you. Sometimes this difference can alienate you. Sometimes this difference can be the only thing that you think everyone else sees. But this difference is the engine to your limitless creativity.

Do Art creates an atmosphere of creative gratitude. We allow everyone to be happy with who they are by not only discovering creativity through ourselves, but discovering ourselves through creativity. This experience of creative bridge making with others and ourselves, can give us access to confidence we may not have been aware of. We fan this flame of confidence with more art, and build an experience that all can take home to further explore.

We start every workshop with a chant:

I am amazing!
I am creative!
I am an artist!

When I say ‘Do’, you say ‘Art’.   Do!  Art!  Do…
