Calling all homeschoolers!  

Join us this fall for a fun, interactive 4-part series all about birds!  

  • Kick-Off Event: August 20th at Somerset Branch
    • Welcome & Introduction to Flight Path purpose and programs
    • Wild Hope: Puffling Patrol video (~13 minutes)
    • Hands-on Light Pollution Activity
    • Wild Hope: Building for Birds video (~15 minutes)
    • Distribute Take Home Activity Sheets
    • Q&A and Wrap Up

4-Part Series: 

  • Session 1: September 15th at Glenford Fort Preserve with Jessie Bennett, Perry County Park District Naturalist, to learn about local birds, their habits, and migration paths.  A bird walk will be included dependent upon the weather, so dress accordingly.  This program will move to our Somerset Branch in the event of inclement weather.  
  • Session 2: October 20th at Somerset Branch with Ted Wiseman, Ohio State - Perry County Extension Agriculture & Natural Resources Educator, to learn about bird habitats and how to protect these habitats.
  • Session 3: November 17th at Somerset Branch with Penny Cox, Perry Soil and Water Conservation District Education Specialist, to learn all about bird food chains and how we can protect them.
  • Session 4: December 15th at Somerset Branch - homeschoolers will select a bird topic to research and present at a bird themed science fair we are calling the Flight Path Bird Exhibition.  This Exhibition will run like this year's science fair (our judges - the three presenters mentioned above - will walk around and talk with each project while the families are mingling.  Certificates of Recognition will be given to all who complete the exhibition.
